Facilitating Research cooperation between Europe and New Zealand (FRENZ) is a bilateral project to support New Zealand engagement in FP7. Running from January 2009 to December 2011, the FRENZ project has received funding from the European Community’s Seventh Framework Programme (FP7/2007-2013) under grant agreement number 222665; and from the New Zealand Ministry of Research, Science and Technology. Our participation involves the delivery of national contact point type services, including a helpdesk, training and information events, and European liaison.

The Pacific-EU Network for Science and Technology project will establish a bi-regional dialogue platform on science and technology between the EU and the 15 Pacific region countries that comprise the ‘Africa Caribbean Pacific’ grouping. It will closely involve the Overseas Countries and Territories (OCTs) in the Pacific region, while Australia and New Zealand will bring to the PACE-net project their long standing expertise in the Pacific. Our role in the PACE-net project is the delivery of training and support to Pacific researchers on engagement with FP7.

The BioCircle project aims to network third country national contact points in the Food, Agriculture and Fisheries, and Biotechnology (FAFB) theme of FP7, with the aim of increasing the participation of researchers from outside Europe in research projects in the FAFB theme of FP7. BioCircle partners are the national contact points for FP7 in 18 different countries outside Europe and 5 in Europe. Our role in the BioCircle project is as an expert to connect New Zealand FAFB activities (currently undertaken under the auspices of the FRENZ project) with those activities taking place in rest of the world.
